Justice Institute, Maple Ridge, Restricted Access. The Syfy Network has a great video of this location and the rebel base: Location, Location, Location. Location Notes: Henry and Darren at the Justice Institute were invaluable in helping us with this location. We were offered the opportunity to photograph at the site, but were unable to fit it into our trip due to time constraints. I sent Darren some screencaps and he generously went out to the site and took these pics for us. Thanks, guys!

Wooded area, Capilano Park, 3735 Capilano Road,
North Vancouver Travel Tips: This was used in a flashback sequence to 'Lay Down Your Burdens.' There is also a flashback to these woods in Robert Burnaby Park in 'The Farm.' More information is available for this park under the category 'The Farm.'
For this location, park in the Cleveland Dam parking lot. You'll be able to see 'The Lions,' the mountains used as the 'Gates of Hera' in the Kobol arc from there. Cross the Cleveland Dam bridge (another site from 'The Plan') and you'll see a path on the left leading up. Walk up the path. Right about where it begins to turn, you'll see a wooden post with a small yellow sign on it. Enter the woods here (there's an obvious path). We found screen matching in this park very difficult (though we believe we were successful with a few Kobol shots). Did you have luck matching? Please contact us and share your pics and stories. The Northlawn Building (part of Riverview Hospital), 2601 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam, BC. The Syfy Network has a great video of this location and the Cylon Base: Location, Location, Location. Travel Tips: As the original resistance base from 'The Farm' had been demolished, production moved to The Northlawn Building (on the grounds of Riverview Hospital--Kara's hospital from 'The Farm'). It was difficult to match the building as many production shots were taken from well above, but the shots here are of the correct location. The actual area that was used is fenced in and locked.
We passed Riverview Hospital on our way to the Breeder's Canyon site in Coquitlam. Traffic can be bad here, so we'd suggest going on a weekday. This location used to be a mental institution and is now used exclusively for filming. A security vehicle drove the grounds when we were there. We didn't make any effort to hide what we were doing, and the driver simply smiled and waved at us as he drove by. Riverview Hospital, 2601 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam, BC. Farmer's field in Aldergrove, near Canada-US border (private). Location Notes: We were lucky to obtain permission from the owner to photograph for the website! When you're looking out to where the bombs were dropping, the trees and Raptor are on your right. It was raining, which is why I'm wearing my rain pants. Anne, being from Seattle and thus part duck, did not even have as much as an umbrella. We were very tempted to run across the field with a stack of books!
This episode has two locations. 1. Forest where Helo shoots a Six Lynn Canyon Park, 3663 Park Road in Lynn Valley Take a virtual tour at the Lynn Canyon Park website. Google Earth map provided by Kent Sponagle. Find the gravel access road that runs through Lynn Canyon Park and follow it to the south end of the Bear Trail. Helo shot a Six here (it's also the main Kobol campsite). Matching this site in the park seemed near impossible, so the match above is similar at best. Did you have better luck? Please contact us with stories and photos! On our first visit, we walked the Bear Trail (having asked at the Ecology Centre where productions usually film in the park) and, ironically enough, heard a very loud bear call at the bottom of the trail. I only knew what it was for sure because it sounded like Chewbacca, and I knew they used some bear sounds for him (I'm not particularly outdoorsy, lol). We made a lot of noise talking and jingling keys and high tailed it out of there! Especially if you're visiting on a weekday, when the park is not busy, consider bear bells or some other noise maker. 2. Baltar's house Tidewater Way, Lions Bay Travel Tips: Baltar's house at Lions Bay is another location not to be missed. Park in the public lot near the water, and use the public beach access. Don't be like us and spend at least half an hour taking pictures of the water, ourselves and the water, the rocks, ourselves and the rocks, and not notice the house behind you! Near the washrooms is a raised grassy area where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the house and the water, perfect for a picnic. (We've had two--one on each trip. :D) Even the ~35-minute drive from Vancouver is amazing--with a postcard view around every turn. This episode has two locations. 1. The access road to the park is from the Upper levels Highway (routes 1 and 99) in West Vancouver. From the city of Vancouver, access is by crossing the Lions Gate Bridge to the Upper Levels Highway via Taylor Way in West Vancouver. Map of Cypress Provincial Park Help Needed: We've not been to Cypress Provincial Park. Looking at the map (the link above), the Quarry picnic area may be located by Quarry Lookout. Locations can often be found off main roads very close to the entrance of parks (production needs easy access). There is a marked picnic area on the map that is much farther into the park. Did you make this trip? Please contact us to share your stories and pics for the site! This episode has two locations. 1. The Astral Queen Private property, Surrey Location Notes: This location was once a power plant, but is now a recycling facility. 2. Entering Caprica Flight Centre Library Square, 203-345 Robson Street, Vancouver (downtown) Travel Tips: Distinctive and beautiful, the Flight Centre Library Square is not to be missed if you're downtown. It can easily be combined with a trip to the Orpheum Theatre (Opera House) and/or other downtown locations. Many are within walking distance of each other.
This episode has three locations. 1. Zak's Funeral Mountainview Cemetery, north of 33 Avenue, Vancouver Travel Tip: The location is just north of 33 Avenue. The lower photos were provided by the 13th Colony and were taken from camera positions used in the show. We didn't have a chance to visit this site, but from Google Earth, it seems possible to check it out without disturbing the cemetery at all. 2. Caprican 'Air Force' Base Location Notes: The exteriors where Adama meets Kara for the first time were filmed on the lot at Vancouver Film Studios. 3. Helo and Sharon Bomb Shelter The Alibi Room, 157 Alexander Street, Vancouver Travel Tips: The Alibi Room is located in Gastown, a hip shopping and lifestyle neighbourhood that offers 'the complete Vancouver experience.' It was cool to be able to sit and eat on a 'set' from the show. The Alibi Room offers a wide selection of beer--my 'maple beer' unfortunately tasted like someone had squeezed Aunt Jemima directly into a pilsner, but perhaps you will make a better choice. The shopping and architecture in the area are great!
This episode has two locations. 1. Kara's crash landing site Location notes: This is a private, active rock quarry in Coquitlam. There is no public access and the site is dangerous, so we don't recommend trying to visit. This was the same quarry used for the Cylon firing squad scenes from the New Caprica arc. 2.
