The Waterfall Building, 1540 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver
Lee and his fiancée The Waterfall Building, 1540 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver Travel Tips: Used in many episodes, The Waterfall Building was where you see Lee with his fiancée Gianne in the flashback sequences in Black Market. Parking is an issue--there is a gravel pay lot just across from the building that is best. There is also, appropriately, a Starbucks nearby!

This episode has two locations. 1. Cylon Occupied Caprica The Waterfall Building, 1540 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver Travel Tips: The Waterfall Building made for a great Cylon hangout, as well as Sharon/Boomer's Caprica apartment, in Downloaded. Kara and Roslin also lived here (Roslin also visited the doctor in this complex). Anders and Barolay were on the roof on the east side. Parking is an issue--there is a gravel pay lot just across from the building that is best. There's also, appropriately, a Starbucks nearby! 2. Underground Parking Garage BC Cancer Agency, West 10 Avenue, Vancouver (torn down) Location Notes: The underground parkade where the explosion and debris all fall down on Anders was shot at the parking garage underneath the BC Cancer Agency. This building was torn down shortly after shooting and replaced with a new facility. The crew was unable to use gunfire in the garage, because it would have been too loud for the rats they bred for testing in the building above. Loud gunfire would have disturbed the breeding cycle and they would have been without rats for a while for their research. Non-guns, which just create a small muzzle flash, were used and the gunfire was put in later. Kent said that this was one of the stranger stories from his entire career as a location manager! North Vancouver Travel Tips: Park in the Cleveland Dam parking lot. You'll be able to see 'The Lions,' the mountains used as the 'Gates of Hera' in the Kobol arc from there. Cross the Cleveland Dam bridge (a site from 'The Plan') and you'll see a path on the left leading up. Walk up the path and right about where it begins to turn you'll see a wooden post with a small, yellow sign on it. Enter the woods here (there's an obvious path). Screen matching is difficult in this park, so the photos above are similar at best. We do believe we have some clear matches for the Kobol arc. :)
This episode has two locations. 1. New Caprica City Go to No. 8 and Blundell Road in Richmond, BC, and follow Blundell west until it ends. GPS coordinates: 49.156829, -123.043334 Behind the ScenesBelow are photos of the area off of Blundell Road, dressed as New Caprica City for several episodes including 'Lay Down Your Burdens part II.' Photos are copyright Maurice Woodworth and are not to be re-used without his written consent. Location Notes: This location can be difficult to find. Thanks to Bart McLeroy for the photos! He found the location by putting the coordinates above into his GPS. It's now an industrial area, but it is possible to see some sand if you look closely. 2. Nuked Caprica Forest Capilano Park, 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver Travel Tips: Park in the Cleveland Dam parking lot. Screen-matching is very difficult in this park, but we believe we've been successful with a few in the Kobol arc. :)
The Opera House The Orpheum Theatre, 850 block on the corner of Smithe and Seymour Streets, downtown Vancouver. Travel Tips: Appearing in numerous episodes, The Opera House is an amazing spot to visit. In July and August, The Orpheum Theatre provides public tours that cost about $10 per person. The tour is two hours long and you get to explore the Orpheum from basement to attic! An article about tours in 2011: Orpheum Tours. Our tour guide, Arthur, was such a nice guy. There was an orchestra rehearsing while we were there, so we had to wait quite a while before we could get on stage. At first, Arthur would only let us peek into the theatre, then after a few more minutes of exploring, he let us quietly step in and walk a few meters to stand and listen. Finally, he got comfortable enough with Anne and me that he let us sit in balcony seats and enjoy the music. It was amazing. The orchestra rehearsal was scheduled to end at 12:30 pm, but we got worried as they seemed to be in the middle of a very long piece as the time approached. In the end, they stopped mid-piece and packed up their stuff on the dot of 12:30 pm! It was AWESOME to be on stage afterwards. This episode has two locations. 1. Socrata Thrace's Apartment Gate 6, 6 Avenue, Vancouver (just west of Granville) Help Needed: We have not travelled to this particular location. It's located South of the Waterfall Building (site of Kara's apartment and many other locations). If you have a chance to check it out, please send us a pic of the exterior of the building for the site--it would be very appreciated! You can use the contact form on our about us page. 2. Kara's Apartment The Waterfall Building, 4051 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver Travel Tips: Parking can be an issue here, but there is a gravel, pay lot slightly north west of the building (across the street). Appropriately, there's a Starbucks nearby. Be sure to check out the locations from the Miniseries, Downloaded, Black Market, Daybreak and the New Caprica arc here!
Tylium Refinery Roger's Sugar Mill, 123 Rogers Street, Vancouver Help Needed: We have not travelled to this particular location. It's located very close to the potash silo (site of Ragnar station and the Temple of Five). If you have a chance to check it out, please send us a picture of the exterior of the business for the site--it would be very appreciated! You can use the contact form on our about us page.
Adama and Carolanne's House A private residence in North Vancouver Travel Tip: We didn't have much hope that we'd actually find the house, but eagle eyes in the back of the car spotted it right away using the roof lines. The neighborhood is absolutely lovely, but to respect the privacy of the owner, we will not include the address here.
This episode has three locations. 1. Algae Planet Private land in Kamloops Travel Tips: Unfortunately all of the locations in Kamloops are on private land. The Algae Planet is part of The Hoodoos, an amazing rock formation that is on T'kemlups Indian Land. The drive is amazingly scenic (particularly the mountain pass) and the city itself is large, but beautiful. I could retire here. :) To see more Algae Planet rock formations, see the 'Eye of Jupiter.' 2. Temple of Five Vancouver Wharves, North Vancouver. Public access is highly restricted for security reasons. Google Earth map provided by Kent Sponagle. Travel Tips: This site on the waterfront was also used for parts of Ragnar Station from the Miniseries. Not accessible to the public. 3.
